The self-advocacy movement has put down roots in Bangladesh. This guide helps to strengthen those efforts.

This Bangla-language human rights training guide was designed to support those working with self-advocates in Bangladesh.

Published in 2013 by HPOD and SEID, a Dhaka-based civil society organization that promotes the social inclusion of persons with intellectual and neurodevelopmental disabilities, I Will Speak Up for Myself: How Persons with Intellectual Disabilities Assert Their Rights through Self-Advocacy in Bangladesh provides an overview of the self-advocacy movement, detailed discussion of parts of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities that are especially important to persons with intellectual disabilities, as well as case studies and interviews of self-advocates in Bangladesh to illustrate what human rights mean in practice.

Also, be sure to view HPOD and SEID's video on self-advocacy in Bangladesh, entitled "Undefeated."
